Choose a God of War 3 PC Port Project
2 projects
Choose Felipe Prado’s port for a released Windows program or experimental Linux AppImage. FableCraze’s project is an experimental development project without a published program release.
Released program or experimental source?
| Project | Release status | Platform / package choice | Next action |
|---|---|---|---|
| Felipe Prado PC port | Released program | Windows ZIP; experimental Linux AppImage | Choose a program package |
| FableCraze experimental Windows port | No published program | Experimental Windows source project | Follow development |
For the main project, use the maintainer’s program release. Its Linux package is an AppImage, even though the release tag begins with “windows”. Check the Linux requirements and Steam Deck limitation before choosing it.
FableCraze’s project is for readers who want to follow development. Use the main project’s packaged program for the installation steps on this site.
Current stable release
| Platform / package | Version | Published | File | Size | Matching .sha256 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Windows ZIP | windows-v2.3.0 | gow3-windows.zip | 74.33 MB | gow3-windows.zip.sha256 | |
| Linux AppImage · Experimental | windows-v2.3.0 | gow3-x86_64.AppImage | 134.23 MB | gow3-x86_64.AppImage.sha256 |
GitHub marks test releases with a Pre-release label; test tags in the history include names such as windows-v2.1.8-intel-hd630-test1. Use the recommended stable release for this guide. The complete program release history remains on the maintainer’s GitHub Releases page.
Verify the repository and stable release
Before downloading a program:
- Check the maintainer and project name against the official links in the comparison above.
- Open Releases and choose the recommended release. A Pre-release label marks a test release.
- Choose its program asset and matching checksum file, then compare the SHA256 checksums before running the program.
- Keep the program’s files together. A renamed installer or a repack on another site needs its own origin check; return to the maintainer’s assets when the origin is uncertain.
Compare SHA256 checksums
Save the program and its matching .sha256 file from the same release in one folder. Open a command window in that folder.
Windows — PowerShell
Get-FileHash -LiteralPath '.\gow3-windows.zip' -Algorithm SHA256
Read the Hash value. Open the matching gow3-windows.zip.sha256 in a text editor to find the program’s expected checksum.
Linux — terminal
sha256sum 'gow3-x86_64.AppImage'
Read the first value in the output. Open the matching gow3-x86_64.AppImage.sha256 in a text editor to find the program’s expected checksum.
Compare the entire calculated hash with the program checksum inside the matching file; letter case does not matter. If they match, continue with installation. If they differ, stop. Download the program and its matching checksum file again from that same maintainer’s release, then repeat the check before running it.
The recommended release includes the texture, Steam Deck/RADV and mixed-GPU laptop fixes. Its release notes also list ongoing startup and high-frame-rate problems; use Troubleshooting to match your symptom.
Continue to installation
Use Windows or Linux setup once you have selected the program. Check your own game version before the first launch.
This project grew from Supermedo’s Windows Bloodborne port, which builds on deadinside28’s original. For that separate game’s setup, see the Bloodborne PC community guide.
